Always a personal favorite. Really, really strong show with some excellent peformances from the entire band. Great SBD as well. The Playin, clocking in at "just" 21 minutes, it just perfect, as the really long ones can sometimes tend to wander a bit (that's just a personal opinion of course). And the Darkstar is also a mere 26 minutes. Enough room to stretch out into the cosmos, but not too much so as to lose one's bearings. Great, great show. Worth some time today, no doubt.

Pumping right now. Only up to the BT Wind and you can
tell, its just one of THOSE shows. Cant wait for the
Scarlet>Roses next, let alone to hear if the WRS>LIG>DS>CHINA
lives up to the hype. I believe it will

Update: Scarlet--very hot version. Donna is somewhat
subtle(listenable). Jerry is letter perfect. Billy is a fucking
MONSTER!! He slices, he dices, he juliennes!
Phil sounds phat even through these crappy lap-top speakers!

The Scarlets simply melts perfectly into the Roses.

thanks for yet another grate suggestion SDH
If I were you, I would order another chair NOW, before
you even put this one on; I have a feeling you're gonna need a back-up.

Yes thanks as always Dali. Your covers got us covered like
a babies blanket.

From one of the reviews of this show:

eviewer: Stargazin - - May 14, 2006
Subject: holy missoula!

a picture perfect Weather Report Suite flows like a river out of the mountains into the tidal pull of Dark Star.... it's blazing hot with two roaring tiger peaks... the first is a hair-raising spontaneous Jerry explosion and the second, some of the hottest Billy K drumming this side of the Mississippi...
The transition to China Doll is one of those amazing moments where the Dead switch gears from the most tranced-out psychedelia to crystal-clear focus.

I couldn't put it better myself. The Playin is IMO a
B+ performance. I am not a Donna basher, but she not only
does not lend herself to this song, she actually takes away
from it (this is not new news of course).
And what the hell is up with 19:30 to 20:15 during DS. Every one in my office simultaneously stopped and looked over at me with that "what-the-fuck-is-that?" look on their faces. Priceless. What can I say, the rest of the
show absolutely rocks to the end.

On to 1970............

edit: i am LOVIN this new flash player too

Once again we chose different paths to get to the same place SDH. I'll listen to yours if you'll listen to mine http://www.archive.org/details/gd70-05-14.sbd.cotsman.12439.sbeok.shnf

A nice short spell of acoustic starts this show off, sound is a bit muddy there, but improves as the boys go electric. This part builds from a steady start and turns into a rocking monster by the time we get to St. St. > NFA.

Now for some 1974 ...

Deal. Once my trip to Montana is complete, I'll put it in reverse and head back to 1970.
